Since the introduction of the \u2014sref parameter and its association with an internal style code, without knowing exactly how to relate it to the type of style generated, Midjourney has been a constant and permanent focal point.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Let\u2019s remember that there are 2^32 possible style codes with \u2014sref, from number 0 to 4,294,967,295, which means more than 4 billion (or 4 trillion in the American numbering system) possible styles. It is absolutely impossible for us to see them all at any point during our earthly life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Additionally, more than one code can be combined (I can\u2019t recall the limit right now, but it doesn\u2019t matter, each possible combination takes the previous figure to stratospheric levels).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Having said that, if someone is considering writing about Midjourney and doesn\u2019t know or doesn\u2019t have a topic, they can turn to the sref codes, which provide material for entire collections of 500-page books. Hopefully, if the author is a bit diligent and organized, they will classify them by types, such as illustration, manga, landscaping, painting, realism, abstraction, and any adjectives they wish. Four billion offers a lot to explore.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Why don\u2019t the sref codes follow some pattern?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Ideally, for example, the first two digits could indicate a family of styles; I don\u2019t know, 10 could be Photography, 11 Illustration, 12 Painting\u2026. Then, at lower levels, 1001 could be Black and White Photography, and 1002 Studio Portrait Photography, while 1101 could be Vector Illustration and 1102 Technical Illustration, etc. This would make life much easier for those seeking styles in the immense haystack of 2^32 possibilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Far from this possible logic, the \u201cdiscovery\u201d of styles occurs. By pure chance, a style appears that seems to be\u2026 and without being one, it becomes that. We become digital archaeologists digging through the immensity of numbers and finding treasures. Why not use our phone number, Social Security number, or the number Pi, Euler\u2019s Constant, or tonight\u2019s temperature as a starting code? And from there, pull the thread 10 codes above and 10 below. Or use the winning numbers in the Lottery or any official draw. If your mind is blank when you face the screen, the paper, or the canvas and don\u2019t know what the next move is\u2026 use \u2014sref random and let the Midjourney engine itself provide you with a code. And see what comes out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you do this, be sure you\u2019ll want to have those codes saved somewhere so they don\u2019t get lost. Use a separate channel in Discord for this. If you use the Web interface, then you don\u2019t have as much freedom of organization. Don\u2019t underestimate the possibility of using a notebook to jot down the codes and a comment like \u201csky blue and white style\u201d or \u201cmodernist style\u201d or \u201cnoir and horror style,\u201d etc. Beyond that, printing a test image and attaching it to the note is already advanced level.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
