The wait is over! The latest version of Midjourney, V6.1, has arrived with significant improvements that will take your creations to a new level. Here are all the new features and enhancements this update brings.
More Coherent and Higher Quality Images
Midjourney V6.1 has perfected image coherence, resulting in more accurate representations of arms, legs, hands, bodies, plants, and animals. The image quality has improved significantly thanks to reduced pixel artifacts and enhanced textures, skin, and retro 8-bit styles.
More Precise Details and Enhanced Textures
This update offers more detailed and correct small features like eyes, small faces, and distant hands. The new image upscalers provide superior texture quality, making each image sharper and more realistic.
Improved Speed and Accuracy
Midjourney 6.1 is approximately 25% faster in standard image jobs, meaning you can achieve impressive results in less time. Additionally, the accuracy in text rendering has notably improved when drawing words through “quotations” in prompts.
Personalization and General Beauty
The new version includes a personalization model with improved nuances, surprises, and greater accuracy. Personalization code versioning has also been introduced, allowing you to use any personalization code from previous jobs to apply the model and data from that specific job.
The new –q 2 mode is available for those seeking even more detailed textures, though it takes 25% longer and may reduce image coherence. However, images generated in V6.1 should generally look “generally more beautiful” across the board.
Important Notes
Currently, V6.1 does not include a new inpainting/outpainting model. If you use the zoom, reframe, repaint, or vary region functions, it will fall back to the V6.0 model. If you prefer to switch back to V6, simply go to /settings and select V6, or type –v 6 after your job (or click the settings panel on the website).
Future Plans
Midjourney plans to release a V6.2 model in about a month with further improvements. However, first, they need to gather as much data as possible from users using V6.1. Therefore, from today, V6.1 is not only available but also becomes the default model for all Midjourney users.
